NEW:
April 26 2010:  Just in time for the
79th Anniversary of Lum and Abner's First Broadcast,
a new article has been published on-line by journalist Ethan
Nobles of Arkansas!  Our own "Uncle Donnie" was interviewed
as were Lon and Kathy Stucker of the Lum and Abner Museum
in Pine Ridge!

February 2010:  We have decided to combine the original
NLAS website with this one.  As you may have read
elsewhere, the original webmaster, Jim Temple, passed away
recently.  We wish the Temple family well during this difficult
time.

Soon, it will again be possible to join the National Lum and
Abner Society, an organization that first accepted members in
1984.  There are differences now.  We no longer publish
The
Jot 'Em Down Journal
as a printed periodical; however, that
means membership is now
FREE!  To read information, both
new and old, from our on-line
Jot 'Em Down Journal, click our
link "The Journal" above!

Here is what we are planning:  You may visit these pages
anytime you wish to check for updates.  The one thing we will
ask is you register your membership by e-mailing us your
name and address.  In this way we can keep you informed of
any new developments.  Your information will not be shared
with anyone else.  You have our promise.  We do require you
register your membership to qualify for the items we will offer
for sale within these pages.  Incidentally, all items are
sanctioned by Lum and Abner Associates, the holders of the
registered trademark.  Check our above link to "The Shelves"
for information on what will eventually be available!

You can't order or join just yet, though!
We're still "under construction!"
When do we hope to be ready?
Unfortunately, the work schedules and family situations of the
"ossifers" have prevented the "hobby time" needed to finalize
these plans.  That will be changing soon we hope!
The National Lum and Abner Society logo was designed by Bobb Lynes.

What does Popeye have to do with Lum and Abner?
We've heard that before!  For many years, the founders and members of the Official Popeye Fanclub
assisted with the NLAS Conventions, and we've returned the favor in Chester, Illinois at their annual
Popeye Picnic Banquets.  Check out this fun club here:

Sadly, the 1995-2010 CHS-TV radio show, The Golden Age of Radio, was canceled
as of December 29, 2009 by KZQX Radio.  Why?  Will it ever return?  Who knows!
We suggest you visit their station on-line anyway for great music 24 hours a day.
If you want to hear
Lum and Abner and other OTR classics, contact them.
And if you want to hear a new version of The Golden Age of Radio, let them know!
KZQX

There will be no more Golden Age of Radio Marathons produced by CHS-TV,
but you can still visit their website and see what kind of student productions are being posted there by the
two people who replaced "old Uncle Donnie" who retired January 15.
Sorry - no more OTR programming!
Of course, if you wish, you may contact
them and let them know your programming desires.

Above:  Possibly the first Lum and Abner
collectible, this 1931 postcard was created by
Mena, Arkansas photographer Oscar Plaster.
Lauck and Goff were broadcasting once a week
on a single station, KTHS in Hot Springs,
Arkansas.  Soon they would make their move to
Chicago and NBC!
