It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing away of Carole Sue Brown, the wife of NLAS
Vice-President and co-founder Sam Brown.  Please join us in prayer and good thoughts for our

DONGOLA, ILLINOIS - Carole Brown, 65, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, as a result of an accident.

She was born Dec. 16, 1943, in Cairo to Gilbert and Joyce (Brown) Eddleman. She married Sam Brown
on Aug. 18, 1973. He survives her.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Dongola. She was a graduate of Ullin High School. She
graduated from SEMO with a bachelor's and a master's degree. She taught elementary school at
Egyptian School for 17 years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

She is survived by her husband, Sam of Dongola; two sisters, Cheryl (Jack) Honey of Metropolis and
Donna (Gene) Loughridge of Peyton, Colo.; three nieces, Lora (Jay) Byassee of Paducah, Paula (Brad)
Beal of Jackson, Mo., and Marcia (Brian) Breerwood of Thibodaux, La.; three nephews, Brad Honey of
Metropolis, Steve (Renee) Brown of McClure and Dennis (Julia) Brown of Alexandria, Va.; one uncle,
Bill (Betty) Brown of Effingham; two brothers-in-law, Dale (Betty) Brown of McClure and Jim (Dianne)
Brown of Belle Chasse, La.; a half sister, Judy Ritchey of Dongola; great-nieces and great-nephews
and other relatives; cousins, Brian Brown of Perryville, Mo., and Billy Brown of Effingham.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Keith Churchill; and one niece, Kristen
Teran.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, in First Lutheran Church of Dongola, with the
Rev. Timothy Heinecke officiating. Interment will be in Lindsey Cemetery at McClure. Visitation will be
from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola and from 9 to 10 a.m.
Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Lindsey Cemetery of McClure or First Lutheran Church of Dongola and
will be accepted at the funeral home and the church.
